The district of East Singhbhum is famously known as “Land of Lions”. The district is famous for its rich Industries, Tribal Culture, beautiful parks & Mining. East Singhbhum District is situated at the extreme corner of the southeast of Jharkhand. The district was formed after isolating 9 blocks from greater Singhbhum in 1990. The Head Quarters of this district is Jamshedpur.
The district is bounded by Midnapur district (West Bengal) in the east, in the west by West Singhbum district, in the morth by Purulia district (West Bengal) and in the south by Mayurbhanj district of Orissa
From the administrative point of view this district has been divided into two Sub-Divisions namely (1) Dhalbhum and (2) Ghatshila. The district
consists of total nine block e.g. Golmuri cum Jugsalai (Jamshedpur),
Potka & Patamda (In Dhalbhum Sub-Division) and Ghatshila, Musabani,
Dumaria, Baharagora and Chakulia ( In Ghatshila Sub-Division).
Rivers
The
Subernarekha River flows from west to south-east direction. All the
tributaries of this area meet with the Subernarekha River.
Iron Ore, Copper, Uranium, Gold Kynite are the main minerals.

How to Reach
Road
The city is on the National Highway No.33 and connected to main cities of Bihar, Bengal and Orissa. All this makes accessibility to Jamshedpur very easy.
Rail
Jamshedpur is close to Calcutta and Ranchi. The railway station
is called Tatanagar and is on the main Calcutta-Mumbai rail route.
Tatanagar also comes in between the train links of Delhi and Puri. It
is also on the rail line connecting Ranchi to Calcutta.
All this makes Jamshedpur very well connected to all areas by trains. The important trains
are Howrah - Mumbai Mail and Gitanjali Express, Shatabdi and Steel
Express to Howrah / Rourkela, Howrah - Pune Express, Howrah - Ahmedabad
Express, Howrah - Ranchi Express, Delhi - Puri Purushottam / Kalinga /

By Air
The Sonari airport of Jamshedpur does not
offer regular commercial flights as of now. Some years back there were
regular flights between Jamshedpur and Calcutta and Ranchi. The nearest
airports are there at Ranchi and Calcutta.
