District of Hazaribagh “Means a thousand gardens” has an excellent climate and beautiful scenery all around it in the midst of dense forest. It is rich in flora and fauna. Hazaribagh is 93 km. from Ranchi by road. It is located on N.H.33. The district headquarter is a part of medium plateau.


The district of Hazaribag is situated in the north east part of North Chotanagpur Division. The boundary of this district consists of districts of Gaya and Koderma in the north, Giridih and Bokaro in the east, Ranchi in the south and Palamu and Chatra in the west. The districts of Koderma, Chatra and Giridih have been bifurcated from this district.

How to Reach


By Road:

The Grand Trunk Road (National Highway No.2) covers some important places such as Hazaribag and Barhi. The Barhi-Hazaribag-Ranchi road is a part of N.H. 33 and the Barhi-Rajouli road is a part of N.H. 31.

By Rail:

The district headquarters at Hazaribag is not directly connected by the rail. The nearest railway station from this town is Hazaribag Road situated at a distance of about 69 Kms. Other important places in district, viz., Patratu and Ramgarh are, however, on the rail head. Ranchi –Koderma railway line is currently under construction.

Hazaribagh town is on the main national highway connecting Ranchi to Patna. Roads connecting neighbouring areas are also there. The nearest railway station is Kodarma & RAmgarh. Nearest airport is Ranchi.
