Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is a beautiful wildlife sanctuary situated around the Dalma Hills in state of Jharkhand. It is located about 10 km from Jamshedpur city. Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary was inaugurated by Sanjay Gandhi in 1975. The Sanctuary is spread around in 195 km2 and covers area starting from Chandil to 40 km east. This wildlife sanctuary is dwelling region of elephants, sloth bear, barking deer, and porcupines which are the main inhabitants of this place. Small hideouts have been constructed within the sanctuary to catch a colder view of the wild animals in their natural habitat. It also serves as an ideal spot for trekkers.
Betla
National Park is one of the most visited national parks in Jharkhand.
It is located on Chotanagpur plateau in Latehar district of Jharkhand
state in India. It is about 8 km
far from Barwadih. In 1974, Betla National Park was declared a Project
Tiger Reserve. This park is spread over an area of approx. 250 sq km (97
sq mi). "Betla"
name of this park is an acronym of the words, Bison, Elephant, Tiger,
Leopard and Axis-Axis (Cheetal). Diversity
of various eco-systems is visible in this park comprising a variety of
wild animals.
Betla National Park is home to tigers, bisons (locally famous as gaurs), elephants, wild bear, sambhars, spotted deer(chitals), rabbits, pythons (up to 6.1 metres (20 ft) long), and foxes. langurs, rhesus monkeys, blue bulls (neelgai) and wild boars are also seen in this park with some other species like porcupines, antelopes, honey badgers, Malabar giant squirrels, hares, wild cats, wolves, and mongooses etc. For wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers, exciting elephant rides are available in this park. Hazaribagh
Wildlife Sanctuary is located at distance of 135 kilometres (84 mi)
from Ranchi, Jharkhand. This wildlife sanctuary was established in 1955.
It is widely famous for its scenic beauty and exotic wildlife.
Beautifully nestling in low hilly terrain, this sanctuary is situated at
an average elevation of 615 metres (2,018 ft) above sea level. It has
been spread across an area of 184 km2 (71 sq mi). Hazaribagh Wildlife
Sanctuary is home to tigers, sambar, leopards, panthers, wild bears,
chital or cheetal, sloth bears, black bears, nilgai, peafowl, hyenas and
pigeons. This wildlife sanctuary is also one of the most visited
tourist places and wildlife sanctuaries in Jharkhand.
The Palamau Tiger Reserve is another popular national park in Jharkhand state. It is one of the nine original tiger reserves in India. It also boasts of being the alone tiger reserve in entire state of Jharkhand, India. Initially, in 1947, under the Indian Forests Act, particular area in Palamu district of Jharkhand was set aside as a protected area. In 1974, that area the area was set up as the Palamau Tiger Reserve. However, prior to the formation of this tiger reserve in Jharkhand, this area was mainly used for cattle grazing and camping by locals. The Palamau tiger reserve has a total land area of 1,014 square kilometres (392 sq mi) covering a core area of 414 sq km and a buffer area of 600 sq km. Core area comprises Ramandag, Latoo and Kujurum forest villages of the region. Palamau Tiger Reserve has a variety of flora and fauna found in Jharkhand. Mainly, a tiger reserve, it house hundreds of species of flora and fauna, including several wild animals such as tiger, elephant, leopard, gaur, sambar and wild dogs etc. More than 140 species of birds can be seen in this reserve and peafowl is most popular of all. Palamau Tiger Reserve offers an astounding experience of wildlife attraction to its visitors.
The green dense forests here provide a natural habitat for the animals like tigers, monkeys and deer. There are a variety of useful trees like sal, neem, bel etc. in these forests. Birsa Munda Jaivik Udyan is on National Highway(NH 33), 16 kms. from Ranchi. It is located on Patna-Ranchi road and is near village Chakla, Block Ormanjhi.The unique adoption program started here allows you to adopt an animal from this park. Such programmes actually inculcate love and care for animals and at the same time help to inculcate interest and awareness about environment and conservation of nature.The National Highway divides the whole area into two segments : one section is the Botanical garden which is comparatively smaller than the zoological section. Birds such as coloured and white peafowls, hill mynah, owls, ducks, geese, koel, mute swan, love birds, white ibis etc. are found here. Mammals found here include himalayan black bear, sloth bear, tiger, lion, elephant, barking deer etc. Reptiles like snakes, crocodile, monitor lizard, gharial are found too. Schools come here on educational tours. The excitement is doubled as boating facility is also there.
Situated 23 kms. from Ranchi, this is a place where around 40 crocodiles are conserved efficiently. It is in Muta, which comes under Ormanjhi Block of Ranchi district. Located on Ormanjhi-Ramgarh road, it has a rest house too for the convenience of visitors. Muta Crocodile Breeding Centre was started in 1987 under International Union for Conservation of Nature Program(IUCN).
Jawaharlal
Nehru Biological Park is the largest zoological garden situated in
Bokaro Steel City of Jharkhand. This biological park was built in 1989.
It has been spread over 80 hectares (200 acres) of land. It is abode to
several species of animals and birds which have been brought here from
various parts of the world. There is an artificial water park also
present within zoo and boating facilities are also available. Jawaharlal
Nehru Biological Park has also achieved success in breeding of white
tigers, Royal Bengal Tigers and Asiatic lions. This park is also counted
among most visited zoological parks of the state.
It is located on Ranchi-Khunti National Highway near Block Ormanjhi, around 11 kms. from Ranchi.Not only deer, but various other varieties of mammals are also found here. However, the number of deer runs into hundreds, hence the name. These deer can be seen from close quarters --- thanks to Park Safari rides. There are lions, tigers, monkeys and various other animals here.The children's park adds to fun and frolic for the young visitors here. The park is spread over 23 hectares. Canteen services cater to the needs of the visitors.Important trees like sal, neem, bel, ber are found here. Around 250 deer live and enjoy the natural green surroundings here.The two main varieties of deer here are Sambhar and Chital.November to February is the ideal time to visit this park. Airport is quite near,so is Hatia Railway station. This is perhaps the reason why the number of visitors to this place is increasing day by day.
Panrra near Dhanbad is believed to be a place where the Pandavas took refuge during their exile. It is home to 'Pandaveshwar Mahadeo' dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Gopalpur near Dhanbad has an ancient pillar dating back to Emperor Ashoka.
On Independence and Republic day the national flag is hoisted on Pahari Mandir - Shiva temple to pay homage to the heroes who have been put to gallows here.
Several rivers flow through state of

Maithon
Dam is popular tourist destination and is located about 45 km from
Dhanbad city in Jharkhand state of India. This dam is constructed by
Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) for flood control. Maithon dam is the
biggest reservoir of DVC. Maithon dam boasts of having an exclusive
underground power station, first of its kind in entire South East Asia.

Massanjore Dam is a colossal dam constructed across Mayurakshi River. Massanjore Dam was built in 1955 with assistance from Government of Canada. Massanjore dam has a height of 155 ft and a length of 2170 ft. The immense water body has gifted Massanjore a bouquet of scenic beauty. Thus, Massanjore has emerged as an ideal tourist spot. It is located on the way from Shiuri to Dumka. Massanjore dam is surrounded by forest areas and hills which offer magnificent views of natural sites.

Ranchi
Lake is beautiful man-made lake situated at the base of the Ranchi Hill

regions. It is also a famous picnic spot in Ranchi and is easily

Dimna
Lake is another famous lake in Jharkhand. Dimna Lake is located at the
foot of Dalma Hills, about 13 kms from the Jamshedpur city. It was
constructed by TATA Steel and boating facility is available at this
lake. Being located amidst beautiful natural surroundings, it boasts of
its serene beauty. It also supplies water to the city. Lake House of

Hazaribagh Lake is the most
famous tourist attractions in Hazaribagh region of Jharkhand. Hazaribagh
Lake can be divided into four distinct parts. This lake is mostly
famous for its beautiful sunrise and sunset views. Swarna Jayanti cum
Entertainment Park is also present near this lake. Swarna Jayanti

Topchanchi Lake is a beautiful man-made lake situated about 37 km from Dhanbad railway Station on National Highway 2 in state of Jharkhand. Topchanchi Lake served as the main source of water supply in Jharia region in early times. War
Cemetery or Jharkhand War Memorial is a war memorial, a tribute to the
martyrs of Jharkhand. It was established in 2008 near the Booty Chowk,
Dipatoli, Ranchi. This memorial is dedicated to all the soldiers who
belong to state of Jharkhand and had sacrificed their lives for the
country. It consists of soldiers from the pre-independence period to the
present. Jharkhand War Memorial was inaugurated by His Excellency, Shri
Syed Sibtey Razi, The Governor of Jharkhand on 31 October, 2008 at Army
Cantonment, Dipatoli, Ranchi. Structure of this War Cemetery is based
on the structure of a person’s body. A museum with exotic collections
comprising Jharkhand's past, rare traditional weapons and modern weapons
along with models of Jharkhand's industry and heritage is also present
within cemetery premises.
Gopalpur is a
small village located in Nirsa-cum-Chirkunda block of Dhanbad district
in state of Jharkhand. This village is well known for its historical
ruins, an ancient pillar and a large stone image which are believed to
belong to Emperor Asoka. As per folklores, this popular ancient pillar
of Gopalpur was constructed during reign of Emperor Asoka. Large stone
image is majorly known for being image of Emperor Asoka.

Deoghar,
also referred as ‘the abode of Gods’ is the most revered religious
place and famous health resort situated in the state of Jharkhand.
Deoghar houses a complex of 22 temples and Baidyanath Temple is the
biggest and tallest of all. Baidyanath temple is 72 ft tall and is most
revered for being one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. This temple is
mainly considered as being the only one lingam that can fulfill all the
wishes of the devotees and thus, known as “Kamnalingam”. Deoghar is also
one of the 51 shaktipeeths of India. It is the only place where
Jyotirlinga and Shaktipeeth both are together and laying just side by

Hills or Sammed Shikhar is the most visited religious spot in Jharkhand
and revered as the holiest place by Jains. Sammed Shikar is located at
an elevation of 4480 m above sea level in Giridih district. Parasnath
Hill is known to be the highest mountain range in this region. It is
believed that 20 out of 24 Jain Tirthankars attained salvation in these
hills. Thus, several Jain temples, monasteries and shrines are present
in Parasnath Hills making it most visited Jain pilgrimage centers in

State Museum
is located at Hotwar in Ranchi city of Jharkhand in India. In 1974,
Ranchi Museum was established within premises of the Tribal Research
Institute situated at Morabadi. Later, due to space and displaying
facilities related inconveniences, need of new building started arising
which further led to the formation of the State Museum in new building
at Hotwar. It was founded with main objective of preserving and
displaying the historical, archaeological and cultural heritage of the
state of Jharkhand. State Museum at Hotwar was inaugurated by His
Excellency Vice President of India Mohammad Hamid Ansari on 10th
September 2009. State Museum has various galleries displaying several

Surface temperature of this hot spring is 87 °C (189 °F) and average
subsurface temperature remains around165 °C (329 °F). Five kunds or
springs namely Surya Kund, Brahm Kund, Ram Kund, Sita Kund and Lakshman
Kund are located in one place having water varying from very hot to
cool. Tourism department of Jharkhand Government has also planned to set
up saunas, spas, massage parlours, convention halls and restaurants to

Located in
Tundi village at distance of about 10 km from Dhanbad city, Charak Khurd
houses another famous hot springs of Jharkhand region. Hot springs of
Charak Khurd are used for healing various health problems and skin
ailments. One can easily reach there by availing local transport
services and cabs, buses and auto rickshaws are easily available from
Dhanbad city to Charak Khurd hot spring.
Tantloi hot water spring is situated on the banks of river Bhurbhuri, near Barapalasi which comes under Ramgarh block of Dumka district in Jharkhand state. It is about 35 kms from the district headquarters. The water of this hot spring also contains high content of sulphur which helps in treating many skin diseases. Natural flow of the water has been tapped by an artificial reservoir for bathing purpose. On the eve of Makar Sankranti, a huge crowd throng to take bath in this hot spring and get rid of health problems. Hot springs of Tantloi are also major subject of interest for Geophysicists over the world. Steel Zoological Park is another most visited park in Jharkhand. This
park is popular for its natural beauty and the flora and fauna. This
Zoological Park was specially made to provide a place for recreation,
research, conservation and captive breeding of birds, animals, reptiles,
and aquatic animals. It has a Safari Park where one can encounter the
animals roaming free. In this park visitors can easily have a natural
view of wild animals. Nature Education Centre also enlightens its

Nakshatra Van or
the Constellation Garden is a unique park developed by the Jharkhand
Forest Department in city of Ranchi. It is located in front of Jharkhand
Raj Bhawan, the Governor's house in the capital city. This park is
based on Philosophy of Hindu astrology. Thus, center of this park
presents a symbolic representation of various constellations which are
built as per exact respective angles of the Zodiac signs. Along with
several trees are also planted in this park to represent a specific
constellation. Apart from all these unique and creative creations, this
park also contains a musical fountain, few swings and a number of
beautiful gardens. Another attraction of this park is the separate
section made for medicinal plants. There is a statue of Dhanvantari or
the god of Ayurvedic medicine also present in this park.
Ranchi
Science Centre is the first science centre located in the state of
Jharkhand. This science centre functions under Jharkhand Council of
Science & Technology (JCST) of Department of Science &
Technology, Government of Jharkhand. This centre comprises two storied
building housing three permanent thematic galleries. An approx. covered
area of 42,000 square meters on total area of 13 acre land which has
been provided by Government of Jharkhand, at Chiraundi village,
Morhabadi near the Tagore Hill located adjacent to Ranchi town. The
science centre has been developed by the National Council of Science
Museums (NCSM), a wing of Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. Ranchi
Science Centre was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Arjun Munda on
29 November, 2010.

Birsa
Munda Park is the most popular amusement park located on Bhuli Hirak
road at distance of 8 km from Dhanbad Railway Station in Dhanbad City of
Jharkhand. It is one of the most visited picnic spots in Dhanbad. Birsa
Munda Park is spread over 25 acres land and is named after as well as
dedicated to the famous freedom fighter of Jharkhand region, Birsa
Munda. This amusement park was opened for public in November 2009. It

Nicco Amusement Park, also known as Jubilee Park or the Emerald Green
Park is located in the heart of Jamshedpur city in Jharkhand. It is one
of the most popular amusement parks in the state. Spreading over an area
of 222 acres, this park has been a major tourist attraction. This park
has been a special gift by the Tata Steel Company to mark the completion
of 50 golden years in 2008 to the citizens of Jamshedpur city. This
park was designed by two renowned architects, Mr. B.S. Nirody and Mr. G.
H. Krumbiegel. They had also designed the Mughal Gardens of Rashtrapati
Bhavan, Delhi and the Brindavan Gardens of Mysore. Splendid fountains,

Best time to visit Jharkhand is during period of October to February when weather remains relatively cool and pleasant. The state has tropical climate and experiences three seasons namely winter, summer and monsoon. Winter starts from October and lasts till February and summer starting from March remains till mid-June with May as the hottest month when temperature reaches up to 37°C. However, temperature may soar up to 42°C during summer season in Ranchi city of the state. Summer season is followed by monsoon or rainy season during July to September months when this state receives maximum rainfall. Annual rainfall of Jharkhand is 1326 mm.
